Heat Advisory Through Sunday

Plan on taking extra steps to stay cool this weekend. Weather experts say we're in for serious --possibly dangerous -- heat through Sunday evening. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 7 p.m. Sunday. That means heat index values -- the "feels like" temperature -- will be 105 degrees or more in the afternoon. And overnight lows won't get below the upper 70s.

For a complete weather forescast, watch my Fox DFW.

If you're going to be outside any time today or this weekend, be sure to wear loose light clothing and drink plenty of water. If you're going to be out in the pool or on the lake, don't drink a lot of alcohol. Beer or any other alcohol will actually dehydrate you and make you more susceptable to heat-related illnesses.

The NWS also wants North Texans to check on elderly neighbors, and reminds everyone never to leave children or pets in a vehicle.
